The Black Cowgirl

The Black Cowgirl

Howdy, howdy! I actually don't go around saying howdy as if I am in a western movie. I normally wave or shout "HEY HEYYY!!" If you have made it to this page, that means you know I am a published author and lover of all things horses.

Seriously, I was born into the horse world. My father owns a horse farm in Eagle Rock, NC which sparked my passion for horses. I'm a certified country girl. I love waking up to the smell of outside even if it has a hint of horse manure.

I'm an equestrian, author, co-host of a podcast, wife, mom, 4-H leader, founder of a nonprofit, educator, and advocate for diversity in equestrianism. Horse people do not look one way. I personally have never owned a pair of breeches in my life. I'm comfortable riding in jeans.

There are many stigmas about who can or should be involved with horses. Through sharing the stories of Black equestrian history and my own cowboy culture, I hope to inspire youth to show up for their dreams, passions, and interest no matter who says they don't belong.
